A great step in the right direction for the MHSAA. Receiving late notice of the event by most, some were unaware of the event at all, and some unable to attend the event due to team obligations, the event still went off inside the beautiful school of Manistee High School. There was about 35 girls that participated in the event. This gave Michigan Women’s Wrestling the Opportunity to share information on all the opportunities there is across the country in girls only events and to inform the ones that attended about our organizations schedule, all girls event schedule with other organizations, National Team opportunities, and educate some parents and coaches about what wrestling really has to offer these young ladies.
As this might not seem like a big event for some areas of the country this is about 15% of all the girls that wrestle in high school for all of Michigan, all while most of the State was under a winter weather warning due to a major snow storm. Thanks to Manistee high school and the folks that put on the event, and all the ladies and parents that made the crazy drive to the northwest corner of the mitten for this historic event.
