Who we are

Michigan Girls Wrestling (“MGW,” “we”) is an informational resource for girls wrestling in Michigan — tournaments, camps, clubs, rankings, news, and public athlete profiles.

Information we collect

Account information you provide (such as name and email) to sign in, submit listings, or manage a family.

Public competition information for athlete profiles and rankings, compiled from public sources and admin-reviewed submissions.

Anonymous, aggregate engagement measurements. We do not store individual viewer identity, IP addresses, or device fingerprints for analytics.

Athlete Accounts

Parents and legal guardians may create a read-only login for an athlete who is at least 13 years old. When a guardian sets up an athlete login, we collect and store: the email address the guardian provides for the athlete, which we use to send the activation link and to operate the athlete's login; the guardian's confirmation that they are the athlete's parent or legal guardian and that the athlete is 13 or older, along with the date and the guardian account that provided it; and basic account activity, such as when the login was activated or revoked.

Athlete logins are view-only. They do not add any new public information about the athlete: what appears publicly on the site is governed by the separate consent and publication processes described elsewhere in this policy, and an athlete login does not change it. Athlete logins cannot see guardian personal information, including travel, lodging, or payment details.

The guardian controls the athlete's access and can revoke it at any time from their own account. Revoking access disables the login immediately. We retain the invitation and consent record, including for revoked logins, so we can demonstrate that access was guardian-authorized. The athlete's underlying record remains under the guardian's control as described in this policy.

We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to hold a login. If we learn that a login is held by a child under 13, we will revoke it and disable the associated credentials.

Minors

Athletes are minors. Public athlete profiles are admin-managed and shown only when explicitly published, and never include contact information, medical or academic information, exact/private weights, or guardian details. MGW does not publish athlete photos on public profiles.

Recruiting Directory (optional): a parent or guardian may choose to list their athlete in a private directory visible only to admin-verified coaches. It shows only the athlete's first name, weight, age, region, and club — never contact information. Messages from coaches are routed to the parent/guardian, and the listing can be turned off at any time in Account settings.

Parents and guardians may request corrections or removal of a public profile at any time. To request a correction or removal, email admin@michigangirlswrestling.com.

Team Film & Video

Teams may record and store match video for private team use, such as coaching review. Team film is not public: access is limited to the athlete's team staff and authorized team members, playback links are protected, and video is not published to the public site. A guardian may request removal of film involving their athlete by contacting the team's coach or MGW, and coaches and administrators can delete video on request.

How we use information

To operate the site, display public listings and profiles, enable messaging between families and verified coaches, and improve the product using aggregate metrics.

We do not sell personal information.

Legal Requests and Safety Disclosures

We may access, preserve, and disclose information we store if we believe in good faith that doing so is: (a) required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process; (b) necessary to respond to a lawful request from law enforcement or another government authority; (c) necessary to enforce our Terms of Use or investigate potential violations; or (d) necessary to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security issues, or threats to the safety of any person — including, in particular, the safety of minors who participate in our programs. Where the law allows and it would not endanger anyone, we will make reasonable efforts to notify the affected account holder (for athlete accounts, the guardian) before disclosing their information in response to legal process.
