Terms of Use

The rules for using the Michigan Girls Wrestling website.

Effective July 1, 2026

Acceptable use

Use the site lawfully and respectfully. Coaches, organizers, and parents are responsible for the accuracy of information they submit and for their conduct in messaging.

Third-party events

Event, camp, and clinic listings are provided for informational purposes only. MGW is not the organizer and does not process registration, payment, eligibility, or safety for third-party events. Confirm all details directly with the host before registering.

Rankings & profiles

Rankings and athlete profiles are compiled from public sources and admin-reviewed submissions. They are not official records and may contain errors or omissions.

Athlete Accounts (Users Under 18)

1. Guardian-created only. An Athlete Account may only be created through an invitation initiated by the athlete's parent or legal guardian from the guardian's own MGW account. Athletes cannot register directly. Any account created in violation of this section may be deactivated without notice.

2. Minimum age. Athlete Accounts are available only to athletes who are at least 13 years old. The inviting guardian must affirm the athlete's age at the time of invitation. MGW does not knowingly permit account access by children under 13. If MGW learns that an Athlete Account is held by a child under 13, the account will be revoked and associated login credentials disabled.

3. Guardian consent and control. By creating an athlete invitation, the guardian: (a) consents to the athlete holding a login to the MGW platform; (b) accepts these Terms on the athlete's behalf; and (c) retains the right to revoke the athlete's access at any time from the guardian's account. Revocation takes effect immediately.

4. Read-only scope. Athlete Accounts are view-only. An athlete may view: (a) public tournament, clinic, and camp listings; (b) the athlete's own profile and published results; and (c) team schedule and event-day information for the athlete's team. Athlete Accounts cannot post, message, upload (except athlete photo submissions, as described in the Athlete Photo Submissions section below), edit, sign documents, register for events, or make or claim payments. Team messaging remains restricted to adults.

5. No access to guardian information. Athlete Accounts cannot view guardian personal information, including travel and lodging details, payment status, or communications between guardians and coaches.

6. Account responsibility. The guardian is responsible for supervising the athlete's use of the account and for maintaining the confidentiality of login credentials. The guardian agrees to notify MGW of any unauthorized use.

7. Data. Activation of an Athlete Account associates the athlete's login email with the athlete record the guardian maintains. MGW's Privacy Policy applies to all data associated with the account. Revocation disables access but does not delete the underlying athlete record, which remains under guardian control.

8. Termination. MGW may suspend or revoke any Athlete Account for violation of these Terms, at the guardian's request, or as needed to protect the safety of participants.

Athlete Photo Submissions

Athlete photo submissions — limited exception to the read-only scope. Notwithstanding the read-only scope stated above, an activated Athlete Account may submit a photograph of the athlete to the athlete's own profile. This is the only content-submission capability granted to Athlete Accounts. A submitted photograph is not published automatically: it is held in a pending state and becomes visible only after the athlete's parent or legal guardian approves it. Athlete Accounts gain no other ability to post, message, upload other content, edit records, sign documents, register for events, or make or claim payments, and team messaging remains restricted to adults. The parent or legal guardian remains the authority over the Athlete Account and may reject, remove, or revoke access to this capability at any time.

Acceptable photo content. A submitted photograph must depict the submitting athlete and be wrestling- or sport-appropriate. A submitted photograph must not: (a) depict any other identifiable individual without that individual's (or, for a minor, that individual's parent or legal guardian's) consent; (b) contain contact information of any kind; (c) contain school or institutional identifiers beyond ordinary team affiliation; or (d) contain embedded geolocation metadata or other precise-location information. MGW may establish, publish, and enforce further content standards at its discretion. Photographs that do not meet these standards may be refused, removed, or flagged under the MGW moderation rights below.

MGW moderation rights. MGW may, in its sole discretion and at any time, refuse to publish, remove, or flag any submitted or published photograph, with or without notice and without liability to any user, guardian, or athlete. Removal of a photograph deletes the associated stored file from MGW's systems. MGW's exercise of, or failure to exercise, these rights does not create any duty to monitor and does not waive any other right or remedy. These rights are in addition to the guardian's rights described below and to the reporting and preservation obligations described below.

Guardian approval and control. Every photograph submitted by an Athlete Account requires the affirmative approval of the athlete's parent or legal guardian before it is published; an unapproved photograph is never made public. The guardian may reject a pending photograph, and may remove any published photograph, at any time. Guardian media consent is the master condition for this capability: if the guardian withholds or revokes media consent, no athlete-submitted photograph will be published, and revoking consent removes all of the athlete's photographs from public display and deletes the associated stored files. The guardian's authority under this section is continuing and may be exercised without cause.

Reporting and preservation regarding imagery involving minors. MGW complies with federal law governing providers that host user-submitted content, including 18 U.S.C. § 2258A. If MGW obtains actual knowledge of an apparent violation involving child sexual abuse material or the sexual exploitation of a minor, MGW will report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline as soon as reasonably possible, will preserve the reported material and associated account and transactional records for the period required by law, and will restrict access to preserved material to what is necessary for compliance, security, and legal process. Notwithstanding any other provision of these Terms — including MGW's ordinary practice of deleting removed photographs and any removal, revocation, or deletion right of a user, guardian, or athlete — material subject to a report or preservation obligation will be preserved, not deleted, for the legally required period. MGW will not redistribute, display, or transmit such material except as required to fulfill its reporting and preservation obligations or to comply with legal process. Reports and related handling are escalated to a designated MGW administrator outside the ordinary moderation process, with an internal record of actions taken. MGW cooperates with law enforcement consistent with applicable law, and may be prohibited from notifying the affected account holder of a report. Nothing in this section creates a duty on MGW to monitor user content, and MGW's moderation rights remain independent of, and are not limited by, this section. Any person may report concerns about content involving a minor to MGW at admin@michigangirlswrestling.com; reports may also be made directly to NCMEC at CyberTipline.org or to law enforcement.
